Pregnancy, weight changes, and aging can cause many changes in the body. Some patients complain that they have flat or sagging buttocks and that their clothes don't fit properly. Buttock augmentation can be an excellent way to restore a youthful, feminine shape. Commonly referred to as a Brazilian Butt Lift, the procedure involves harvesting excess fat through 360-degree liposuction and using this natural tissue for autologous buttock augmentation.
A symmetric, shapely buttock has long been prized in many cultures and, more recently, has gained popularity in the United States. Although the media often focuses on very large augmentations, autologous buttock augmentation can be a useful way to rejuvenate the waist and lower body and restore natural-looking hourglass curves.
The procedure combines liposuction of the stomach, flanks, and back with fat grafting of the harvested fat into the hips and buttocks. Buttock implants are also available for select patients looking for more modest increases in projection of the buttocks. This process creates a more refined waistline, increases buttock projection, and reveals a smoother silhouette.

Recovery from these procedures isn't very painful, but it can be awkward. When sleeping or resting, patients will need to stay on their sides or stomach for 1-2 weeks after the procedure. It is okay to stand or lie flat, but you cannot sit on your buttocks, as this can compromise your results.
Recovery time depends on the details of your surgery, such as whether you combine a buttock lift with another procedure like a lower body lift. Most patients are ready to return to non-strenuous jobs within 2 weeks.
